Thanksgiving is far more than
a yearly event on a calendar. It is a very special day to concentrate on and
give thanks to our Heavenly Father. The Word urges us to live a life of
thanksgiving. Being grateful to God each and every day for His showers of
blessings is truly reflective of living a Christian life. The Bible is filled
with many scriptures pertaining to our worship and honor to God. Psalm 100
represents a song of praise and thanksgiving to God as our Creator, Father and
Redeemer.
(Psalm
100)
Shout for joy to the LORD,
all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful
songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are
his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with
thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his
name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness
continues through all generations.
As we give thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ let us offer our prayers and be examples to others of the joy in serving
Him. The gift of new life in Christ is a grace which we are called to live and
enjoy at all times. Our entire lives should be an expression of gratefulness for
this gift of grace to us. We love because Christ first loved us. We can share a
spirit of humility and kindness with others and be assured that our Lord is
glorified by our actions.
Let us also pause to give special thanks to the
men and women of our Armed Forces and their families. If you are fortunate
enough to be surrounded on Thanksgiving by friends and family, please take a
moment to pray for those in uniform who are unable to be with their families.
Many are in distant lands defending our freedom with their boundless courage and
sacrifice.
Thanksgiving can be a sad day if we feel lonely,
sick or have no one with whom to share the joy of this day. If it possible
invite someone to dine with you or take a plate to a shut-in you will be
blessed.
We wish our gospel music family a glorious,
wonderful Happy Thanksgiving.
We give thanks for you and your prayers, support
and encouragement.
God bless you,
Danny Parker
