Mother’s Day Message from The Harvesters

This Sunday, May 11, 2014, we celebrate the official Mothers’ Day; however our appreciation for our wonderful Mothers is a daily observance   Moms are a source of kindness, righteousness, respect and devotion. We often refer to our mothers as pure and virtuous and we are encouraged to reflect upon the blessing of our mothers in our lives

Some of the Bible’s most well-known passages on love and nobility are beautiful examples of the high calling of love entrusted to a mother:

1 Corinthians 13:4–7 (ESV)

 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Proverbs 31: 25-31 (NIV)

This scripture speaks about a wife of noble character and this could easily translate into the characteristics of the most noble role of all—that of being a mother.

She is clothed with strength and dignity;

    she can laugh at the days to come.

She speaks with wisdom,

    and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

She watches over the affairs of her household

    and does not eat the bread of idleness.

Her children arise and call her blessed;

    her husband also, and he praises her:

“Many women do noble things,

    but you surpass them all.”

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;

    but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

Honor her for all that her hands have done,

    and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Give her of the fruit of her hands,

    and let her works praise her in the gates.

 Mothers are a precious gift to their families, and the value of a godly mother is beyond measure. A Mother’s love always included understanding and patience. For all of us, there is a special place in our hearts that is reserved for our mothers.  Whether we are fortunate enough to still have our mothers with us or perhaps they have gone home to be with the Lord, that unique place in our hearts will never forget the love and sacrifices our Moms have always made for us. We will forever treasure the person who always placed her children’s lives above all, taught us about God and faith at an early age and most Mothers have shown us by example the importance of living a life with God as our foundation.

The Harvesters wish all Mothers a very Happy Mother’s Day surrounded by family and friends and God’s ever-present love and peace.
