Memorial Day is the special day we commemorate and honor all men and women in our military for their extraordinary ultimate sacrifices in service to our nation. It has also become customary to honor all of our loved ones who have passed before us.  This day used to be called Decoration Day and we visit gravesites and place flowers and flags to honor the cherished memories of those we love.

So many military personnel continue to be in harm’s way daily and we salute them and lift them up in prayer.   They make us so proud.  We also honor our current service men and women who still valiantly serve in all parts of the world to safeguard our homeland.  These remarkable individuals deserve tremendous respect from this grateful nation.

As we acclaim Memorial Day this year, let us resolve to reflect upon the true reason for this observance, honoring all of those who gave their lives throughout our history. We also offer praise to our Heavenly father. The song we sing at many events is widely applauded and reminds us of the founding of our great nation:

IN GOD WE STILL TRUST

You place your hand on His Bible, when you swear to tell the Truth

 His name is on our greatest Monuments, and all our money too,

 And when we Pledge allegiance, there's no doubt where we stand,

 There is no separation, we're one Nation under Him.

May we also pause to remember all of our loved ones who have gone on before us and cherish and keep their memories close to our hearts.
