Psalm 103:13
As a father has
compassion on his children, so the LORD has
compassion on those who fear him (NIV)
Billy Graham noted:
“A good father is one of the most unsung,
unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most
valuable assets in our society."
Father’s Day ‘s origin was in 1909 when a woman
named Sonora Smart Dodd heard a Mother's Day
sermon at her church and was inspired to propose
that fathers receive equal recognition. (Her
mother died when Sonora was sixteen and her
father raised six children.) The day did not
become an official, permanent national
observance/ holiday until signed into law in
1972 by President Richard Nixon. The occasion is
observed annually on the third Sunday of June.
Dads play so many important roles in the family;
many have memories of a Dad who held you when
you cried, listened intently to your plans and
dreams and was so very proud of your
accomplishments and success. He wanted to keep
you from making mistakes yet recognized your
decision making ability and offered advice as
requested but mostly provided encouragement.
A Dad hopefully shows his own personal
relationship with God and encourages you to
build your faith and live a Christian life. If
you were fortunate enough to grow up in a
Christian home, Dad likely devoted himself daily
to reading his bible and taught you the
significance of prayer in your life. A man who
exhibits the grace of humility, love, hope,
courage and gives Glory to God for his many
blessings is a wise man.
Father's Day is a great opportunity to express
love, admiration and respect to all fathers and
father figures in your life. Fathers Day is a
time honored tradition to pay tribute to those
deserving fathers and celebrate the day in
joyful praise for their presence in your lives.
Jesus taught us to pray, "The Lord's
Prayer"---- " Our Father who art in heaven----
hallowed be thy name". May we rejoice and
offer prayer of gratitude in the knowledge that
our Heavenly Father sent His only son to provide
us the promise of eternal life if we accept
Christ as our personal Savior.
We wish you a wonderful Father’s Day and pray
you are surrounded by peace, joy and love.
