Parker Homecoming 2015 Review

This marked our 17th Annual Parker Homecoming Celebration Concert. The attendance this year was great with over 1100 on Friday and 1200 on Saturday. Friday night 3/20/15 featured The Harvesters, Brian Free & Assurance and Ivan Parker. Saturday night 3/21/15 featured The Harvesters, Karen Peck & New River, Ivan Parker, Earl Brewer and the Parker Family. Earl played a set at the opening and then played for the family. Earl is like family to the Parker's and is an awesome pianist. All the artists did a fantastic job but Saturday night Mama Parker (who just turned 90 in February) really showed out. She told me earlier in the week that she had been praying for a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our weekend event. Her prayers were answered. The second half of the concert on Saturday night Mama Parker came to the stage, gave her testimony and (spontaneously) sang “If I Could Hear My Mother Pray Again” Joining her singing the song was The Harvesters, Karen Peck & New River, Ivan, Danny, Marcus, Kenneth and Charles Parker (her son's). What a blessing to hear her sing this song with such an anointing and sweet spirit. I don’t believe there was a single dry eye in the building. The invitation was given at the end and the altar filled with folks seeking prayer for various needs in their lives. Thankful for those that came down for prayer and especially for the one’s that gave their hearts to the Lord. We were blessed with a spirit-filled weekend of concerts.

A special thanks to Sue Parker for her endless work to make the concert event successful, the ticket outlets for selling the tickets, FAT Lighting crew, David Overton for running the lights, The Dennis Wicker Civic Center staff, Meryl Bullard and others that helped with seating folks and working the doors. Thanks also to Amber Parker Marley & Jonathan Marley for taking care of concessions.
